| Nov. 1 : We arrive
in Lima, Peru, a city established by the Spanish in the 16th century.

| Nov. 2 : Today we drive to the Santa Eulalia Valley and search
for special and endemic birds there, including Scarlet-fronted Parakeets,
Purple-collared Woodstar, Oasis Hummingbird, Pied-crested Tit-Tyrant,
Peruvian Pygmy-Owl, Rusty-bellied Brush-Finch, Andean Tinamou, Black-winged
Ground Dove, White-tailed Shrike-Tyrant, Canyon Canastero, Golden-billed
Saltator, Black Metaltail, Great Inca-Finch, Black-necked Woodpecker,
Mountain Parakeet and Stripe-headed Antpitta. |

| Along the river we may find White-capped Dipper, Torrent Duck and White-winged Cinclodes. Scanning the mountains could produce views of the majestic Andean Condor. Ov. Lima Hotel Manhattan. B/L/D. |

Nov. 3 : Today we fly to Tumbez. Then on to the Reserva los Pajaritos
searching for Collared Forest-Falcon, Streak-headed Woodcreeper, Sulphur-throated
Finch, Pale-breasted Tinamou, and other specialties of this area. Ov.

| Nov. 4 : Today we bird the upper slopes at Quebrada El Limon for
White-tailed Jay, the rare Peruvian Plantcutter, Supercilliared and
Fasciated wrens, White-edged oriole, Baird's Flycatcher, Necklaced Spinetail,
Tumbes Sparrow and Peruvian Sheartail. At Abra Porculla, we will strive to find the extremely rare White-winged Guan, rediscovered in 1977. Other species there include Guayaquil Woodpecker, Elegant Crescentchest, Tumbes Tyrant, Sooty-crowned Flycatcher, Tumbes Hummingbird, King Vulture, Tumbes Swift and another rarity, the Maranon Crescentchest. Nov. 5 : The dry forest of Bagua Chica is a good spot to find the rare
Little Inca-Finch, in the endemic-to- Peru Incspiza family. Here and in the
coffee plantations of La Florida, other interesting birds could include
Spot-throated Hummingbird, Speckle-breasted Wren, Red-crested Finch and
Maranon Spinetail. Afterwards we drive to the small Andean settlement of Pomacochas. Ov. : Hotel Puerto Pumas. B/L/D. |

| Nov. 6 : Our main search today is in the Pomacochas area for the incredible Marvellous Spatuletail, an amazing and very rare hummingbird. Other species which can be seen are Rufous-capped Antshrike, Green-throated Tanager, Silver-backed Tanager, Buff-bellied Tanager, Cloud-forest Brushfinch, Black-tailed and Green-tailed Trainbearers. Nov. 7 : The well-known mountain pass of Abra Patricia, east of Pomacochas,
is our destination for the full day. Many species can be found here
including the rare Royal Sunangel, Blue-capped Tanager, White-sided
Flowerpiercer, Black-and-white Becard, Collared Inca, Rusty-tinged
Antpitta,
Emerald-bellied Puffleg, Tawny-bellied Hermit, Rufous-vented Tapaculo,
Red-hooded Tanager, White-collared Jay, Mountain Cacique, Golden-headed
Quetzal, Oleaginous and Black-eared Hemispingus, Blue-browed and
Metallic-green tanagers, Inca Flycatcher, Andean Cock-of-the-Rock,
Sickle-winged Guan, Lulu's Tody-Tyrant, White-throated Screech-Owl and Green

| Nov. 8 : Andean Pygmy-Owl, Rufous-banded Owl and Rufous-bellied Nighthawk could be found before dawn. In the nearby tropical forest around Afluente we hope to find Golden Tanager, Golden-winged Manakin, Huallaga Tanager, Grey-mantled Wren, Wattled Guan, White-capped Tanager, Drab Hemispingus, Yellow-scarfed, Spotted and Vermilion tanagers, and Red-ruffed Fruitcrow. Next we bird around the Amazon town of Rioja where we will seek Moriche Oriole, Gilded Barbet, Black-faced Dacnis, Pale-eyed Blackbird, Blue Ground Dove and Yellow-tufted Woodpecker. Ov. Nov. 9 : This morning we bird the isolated forested peak near Moyobamba named Morro de la Calzada. Here we will look for Speckled Chachalaca, Blue-headed Parrot, Swallow-wing, Scarlet-crowned Barbet, Lettered Aracari, Wedge-tailed Grassfinch, Fiery-capped Manakin, and Mishana Tyrannulet. Near Tarapoto along the river we can find Golden-headed Manakin and Blackish Pewee. . Ov. Tarapoto : Hotel Puerto Palmeras. B/L/D

Nov. 10 : Today we bird the Tarapoto area searching for Koepcke's Hermit,
Grey-breasted Sabrewing, Golden-tailed Sapphire, Dusky-cheeked
Foliage-Gleaner, Chestnut-crowned Foliage-Gleaner, Slate-coloured Grosbeak,
Painted Parakeet and Buff-burnished and Dotted tanagers. This includes the
gardens around the town as well as the newly-created La Escalera National

| Nov. 11 : This morning we fly back to Lima. Here we visit the Lomas de Lachay Reserve close to the coast. Specialities here include Cactus Canastero, Burrowing Owl, Greyish Miner, Raimondi's Yellow-Finch, Puna Ibis, Wren-like Rushbird, Many-coloured Rush-Tyrant, White-tufted Grebe, Thick-billed Miner, Plumbeous Rail, Least Seedsnipe, Peruvian Sheartail, and Coastal Miner.
